pink dunes and giant bones

The Bone Desert at sunset: big pink sun, dunes, a giant skeleton, the Argentinosaurus making a bridge over a ravine with Tommy and Cosmo on its back.

In the Bone Desert, a big pink sun sets over the dunes. Farther away, you can see a giant skeleton. Above a ravine, the Argentinosaurus makes a bridge: Tommy and Cosmo cross on its back!

Your dino ally

Argentinosaurus: giant beige sauropod in front of a setting sun, its body too big for the frame.

In real life

A real fossil desert

In Mongolia, in the Gobi Desert, water and wind have worn away the rock for millions of years. That's how dinosaur fossils came back to the surface. [1]

The climate there has become very dry and few plants grow: so fossils are easy to spot. [1]

In the 1920s, paleontologist Roy Andrews, from the American Museum of Natural History, found a fossilized dinosaur nest there. He also found the first known Velociraptor fossils. [1]

In 1993, another team from this museum discovered the Ukhaa Tolgod site. Lots and lots of Velociraptor skeletons were found there, and fossils of baby dinosaurs still inside their eggs. [1]
