In real life

The real space station

The International Space Station goes around the Earth in about 90 minutes. In 24 hours, its astronauts see 16 sunrises and 16 sunsets! [1]

People have lived on it nonstop since November 2000. It measures 109 meters from end to end. [1]

It also has a big porthole, the Cupola, with seven windows: six around the sides and one on top. Astronauts use it to look at the Earth and to guide the station's robot arms. [2]

The Cupola was built in Italy for the European Space Agency. It went into space in 2010. [2]
